An English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) advises a school on programs and services that support English Learners, including input on the school’s Single Plan for Student Achievement and English learner needs. It also helps engage families by promoting communication, leadership, and parent participation in decisions that affect English Learner students.
The Colorism Workshop for parents, provided by the LAUSD Black Student Achievement Plan, is designed to increase awareness and understanding of colorism and its impact on students, families, and school communities. The workshop explores how beliefs tied to skin tone can affect identity, self-esteem, academic experiences, and relationships, particularly for Black students. Parents are given tools and strategies to have meaningful conversations at home and to actively support positive racial identity development and equity in education.
